The Varmint Guard III is a heavy-duty metal cage designed to protect compatible trail cameras from damage caused by bears, raccoons, and other wildlife. It mounts to a tree using straps and provides a physical barrier around the camera while allowing full functionality.

How To Set Up
- Select a suitable tree or post at your desired camera location.
- Position your trail camera at the desired mounting height, typically 3–5 feet off the ground and angled slightly downward toward the target area.
- Mount your trail camera to the tree using its standard strap or mounting arm.
- Open the front door of the Varmint Guard III cage.
- Place the Varmint Guard III cage around the mounted camera.
- Align the cage so the camera lens lines up with the opening in the front of the cage.
- Ensure the camera PIR sensor (motion detector) is not obstructed by the cage.
- Secure the Varmint Guard III cage to the tree using the included mounting straps.
- Tighten the straps firmly to prevent the cage from shifting or rotating.
- Close and latch the front door of the cage.
- Power on the camera and verify normal operation through the Moultrie Mobile app.
Usage Tips
- Inspect the cage periodically for damage or corrosion, especially after prolonged field use.
- Ensure the camera lens and PIR sensor remain unobstructed inside the cage for best detection and image quality.
- When removing the camera for maintenance, loosen the cage straps before attempting to open the cage door.
