What are Buck Lists?
Buck lists let you create a list for individual bucks so you can track where and when each deer shows up. You’ll see its last-seen camera and time, and you can filter your gallery and Activity charts by specific, non-harvested bucks.
What you can do:
Create a list from any photo (name, maturity, antler points, notes)
Add more photos to an existing buck over time
See “Last seen” info (camera & timestamp) at a glance
Filter Gallery and Activity to focus on a single buck (or exclude harvested bucks)
Mark a buck as Harvested to hide it from filters and “Add to” menus
What you'll need:
The Moultrie app (iOS or Android)
-
Photos or videos of deer in your Gallery
-
They must be Smart Tagged with a "buck" tag to be eligible. If there is not a smart tag on the image you'd like to add, do the following:
Open the image and swipe up to view details.
In Smart Tags, choose “No/Deny” asking if the Smart Tags are correct, then select the pop-up to add a “Buck” Smart Tag.
Once tagged, the image becomes eligible.
-
(Optional) Use Activity to visualize patterns for your saved bucks.
How to Start a Buck List from a Photo:
Open the Gallery and tap a photo with a buck.
Tap Add to → choose Buck (or tap + Add Buck in the “Bucks” section of the image details).
Choose New Buck to create a list or pick an existing buck to add this photo.
How to Create a New Buck:
-
In the New Buck screen:
Name your buck (e.g., Titan).
Set Maturity (e.g., Young or Mature).
Enter Left Points and Right Points.
Add Notes (location details, unique markings, wind, etc.).
Tap the cover image to crop—pick a clear face/antler view. You can edit this later.
Tap Create. The list is saved and shown in your Buck List.
How to Add Photos to an Existing Buck:
Open any buck photo → Add to → Buck.
Select the buck’s list (e.g., Ghost).
The image is attached to that buck and will count toward its last-seen info.
How to View and Use Your Buck List:
Go to Gallery → tap the Buck Lists chip (or open Library → Bucks).
-
Tap a buck to open its list page with:
Cover photo and quick stats (maturity, points)
Last seen camera and time
A media strip of all images tagged to that buck
Quick filters you’ll love
In Gallery, filter by a specific buck to see only its photos.
In Activity, filter charts by non-harvested bucks to plan sits using time-of-day, temperature, and other patterns.
How to Edit a Buck:
Open Buck Lists → select a buck.
Tap ⋯ (More) → Edit.
Update the name, maturity, points, notes, change the cover, or delete the buck.
Save.
Removing a Buck Image from a List:
- Open Buck Lists → select a buck.
- Use the selector tool to select the images you'd like to remove from the Buck list.
- Select the 3 dots at the bottom of the bar, then select "Remove from Buck".
Adding Multiple Images to a Buck List At Once: (Phased-rollout* not all users may have this feature yet)
- Open Buck Lists → select "Unknown Bucks".
- Use the selector tool to select the images you'd like to add to a Buck list.
How to Mark a Buck as Harvested (and Undo):
Mark as Harvested
Open the buck’s profile or find it in Buck Lists.
Tap ⋯ (More) → Mark as Harvested.
What happens:
Harvested bucks are hidden from Add to → Buck, Gallery filters, and Activity filters so they don’t clutter your scouting.
Undo a mistake
Repeat the steps above and choose Mark as Active to restore the buck to filters and “Add to” menus.
Pro Tips:
One buck, one list. Don’t split a single deer into multiple lists—keep all sightings under the same name to strengthen patterning.
Use notes consistently. Record stand names, food sources, or rut sign; this turns your Gallery into a hunt log.
Pair with Activity. After you build a few lists, check Activity → Time of Day for each buck to spot prime hours and cameras.
Troubleshooting:
-
I don’t see “Add Buck.” Open the photo → Details view. Check the Smart Tags. The image/video must be Smart Tagged with a "buck" tag to be eligible.
Wrong buck got the photo. Re-open the image, tap Add to → Buck, pick the correct list, then remove it from the other buck via that buck’s media list.
Harvested tag is hiding my deer. If a buck isn’t appearing in filters, check Buck Lists —if it shows a Harvested badge, set it to Active.
