Troubleshooting

Improperly installing the feed funnel on your Moultrie Feeder can cause all the feed to pour out of the feeder, or it can clog it completely. Included are some examples of our various feeder kits and proper ways to install them.

Before troubleshooting, you will need to identify what feeder kit you have. Feeder kits manufactured after 2019 come with an adjustable funnel built into the kit itself. No funnel installation is required.

  • If using the Quick-Lock motor kit with an older model Break Down Hopper as shown above, simply put the feed funnel through the Adapter Ring (image #2 above) before bolting the adapter to the bottom of the hopper.  The QL Adapter is included with the QL Kits.
  • If using a traditional bolt-on feeder kit (non-Quick-Lock), the funnel will go inside the hopper.
  • If you are using a feeder kit purchased after 2019 then it will have a a built-in adjustable funnel as shown above.  A Metal funnel is not required.
  • There should only be 1/4" to 5/8" gap between the feed funnel and spin plate. Too much space and the feed can fall out, too little space can cause clogging.

  • This hopper is only compatible with Quick-Lock feeder kits.  The QL Adapter is not required because the QL attachment is built into the hopper.
  • On the Quick-Lock Hoppers, if using a kit without a built-in funnel, place the feed funnel inside the hopper.
  • If you are using a feeder kit purchased after 2019 then it will have a a built-in adjustable funnel as shown above.  Metal funnel is not required.
  • There should only be 1/4" to 5/8" gap between the feed funnel and spin plate. Too much space and the feed can fall out, too little space can cause clogging.

  • If using the Quick-Lock motor kit without a built-in funnel, put the feed funnel through the Adapter Ring (image #2 above) before bolting the adapter to the barrel.
  • If using a Quick-Lock motor kit with a built-in funnel, simply bolt the QL Adapter to the bottom of the barrel. The metal funnel is not required.
  • There should only be 1/4" to 5/8" gap between the feed funnel and spin plate. Too much space and the feed can fall out, too little space can cause clogging.

Pro Tip:  The All-In-One, NXT Hunter, Gravity Feeder, Directional Feeder, Quick-Lock Directional, and Pro-Magnum motor kits all have a built-in feed funnel above the spin plate and do not require feed funnel installation.
