There may be times when a camera requires a firmware update for optimal performance. For this reason, we have included steps to verify if your camera's firmware is up-to-date, or if it already has the most current update available. Please see below for more information and steps to update your firmware if necessary. Please Note: If your camera model is NOT listed below, your camera already has the most recent update available, and nothing more is required.
Micro-42i (2221) (Includes AC42i, BC42i, W42i)
Micro-36 (2221) (Includes AC36, BC36, W36)
1. To see if your camera requires a firmware update, first remove SD Card. Press and hold the DOWN selector, turn the camera to “SETUP”. Once the camera powers on, release the DOWN selector & press “Enter”.
2. The first screen that flashes will be a 4-digit code that tells you the date of the firmware currently on the camera, the second screen will be the camera type. You read this date as the last number of the year, the month, and the day. You read this date as the last number of the year, the month, and the day.
For example: 6308 would translate to March 8, 2016.
3. If it shows you do not have the most recent firmware installed, proceed with the instructions below.
4. Insert a NEW SD Card into your computer using available slots or card reader adapter.
5. Download the most recent firmware to your computer by clicking your camera model above. A “.BIN” file will be downloaded.
6. Copy or drag the .BIN file directly to your SD Card.
7. Before removing the SD Card from the computer, ensure it is safely disconnected from the computer.
8. Insert the SD Card back into the camera.
9. With power set to OFF, press and hold the “DOWN” selector. As you hold it down, turn the power switch to “SETUP”. For cameras made before 2016 please turn the switch to "IR AIM".
10. Once the unit powers up, release the "DOWN" selector button, and press the “Enter” button ONCE to initiate firmware update. DO NOT PUSH ANY ADDITIONAL BUTTONS.
11. The camera will reboot on it's own if the update is successful.
12. A failure notification will appear if the update did not complete successfully.
13. If update failed please repeat these steps.
Pro Tips:
- If using Internet Explorer as your browser, you will need to right-click the firmware links above and select 'save file as' to begin downloading it. For all other browsers, simply click the link to begin downloading.
- There may be multiple firmware files for your model of camera. If you see more than one link next your model separated by a "/" symbol, make sure to save BOTH to your SD Card.
- Most of the time, when the firmware update fails, it is because it's been downloaded more than once to your SD Card and corrupts all the files.

If you have tried to update you firmware before and it failed, follow steps below:

- Go to your Downloads Folder
- Delete all the previous .bin file firmware downloads
- Format your SD Card by right-clicking on the drive your SD Card is using and selecting "Format"
- Repeat the steps above beginning with step 5, and ensure you only download the file 1 time.

M, S & P-SERIES CAMERAS
1. To see if your camera requires a firmware update, turn the camera on to "CUSTOM START".
2. Use UP/DOWN to locate SYSTEM OPTIONS, and toggle left/right to find "UPGRADE FIRMWARE".
3. You’ll notice a text string there (Example: 6M888i-160330). The last part of this text is the date code of the firmware in the format of Year (YY)/Month(MM)/Day(DD, or March 30, 2016.
4. Check that date code against the date code next to your camera name above. If the numbers match, you have the most recent update. If they are different, continue with the update.
5. Insert a NEW SD Card into the computer using available slots or card reader adapter.
6. Download the most recent firmware by clicking the your camera model link above.
7. A “.BIN” file will be downloaded to your computer after clicking.
8. Open your File Explorer to access your Downloads.
9. Copy or drag the .BIN file directly to your SD Card. Before removing the SD card from the computer, ensure it is safely disconnected from the computer.
10. Set the switch to “CUSTOM START” and use the up/down selectors to choose “SYSTEM OPTIONS”.
11. Use left/right selectors to choose “UPGRADE FIRMWARE”.
12. Use the up/down selectors to choose “Yes” and press the “Ok” button.
13. The status will read “Upgrading”.
14. If the system reboots, the firmware upgrade is successful.
15. A failure notification will appear if the update did not complete successfully.
16. If the update failed please repeat these steps.
