Do I need to do anything special when I refill the feeder with feed?
- Check battery levels in the app to see if you should also change batteries
- Remove hopper lid
- Fill hopper with feed
- Wipe any dust or debris off of the Feed Level Detector, so it can get an accurate reading
- Open the Feed Level Detector door and remove one AA battery, then re-insert the battery. This resets the Feed Level Detector.
- Re-install the hopper lid
- Press TEST on the Feed Hub Timer
- Check your app for updated levels
What if I didn’t reset anything on the Feed Hub after I refilled it with Feed?
- Even if you don’t reset the Feed Level Detector, it will update the level on the next check-in.
How do I install the batteries in the Feed Level Detector?
- Open the latch and door on the Feed Level Detector.
- Install the 4 batteries and close the Feed Level Detector.
- There won’t be any lights or feedback on the Feed Level Detector. Once the batteries are installed, the Feed Level Detector is powered on.
- We recommend installing AA batteries in the Feed Level Detector during setup and installation, to avoid battery drain.
I installed batteries in the Feed Level Detector but nothing is happening. Is it working?
- The Feed Level Detector will power on once the 4 AA batteries are installed.
- There aren’t any lights on the Feed Level Detector that indicate it’s on; this is to save power.
- You can tell that the Feed Level Detector is working, and the battery level is good when installing the timer, or by checking the battery levels in the Moultrie Mobile app.
Do I need to do anything special when I change out the Feed Level Detector batteries?
- Use 4 Alkaline or Lithium AA batteries; do not mix battery types.
- Do not use rechargeable AA batteries.
- Remove the hopper lid, and open the door on the Feed Level Detector
- Remove the old batteries and replace with 4 new batteries
- Close the door on the Feed Level Detector
- Wipe any dust or debris off of the Feed Level Detector, so it can get an accurate reading
- Re-install the hopper lid
- Press TEST on the Feed Hub Timer
- Check your app for updated levels.
Do I need to do anything special when I change out the motor battery?
- Only use 6V/5A or 12V/7A batteries that correspond with your feeder kit requirements.
- Remove the feeder kit housing cover.
- Power off the Feed Hub Timer.
- Detach the leads that connect the Feed Hub Timer to the motor battery.
- Remove the old motor battery and replace with your new motor battery.
- Reconnect the leads from the Feed Hub Timer to the motor battery.
- Make sure you connect the leads to the proper polarity.
- Power the Feed Hub Timer to ON.
- Make sure the Feed Hub Timer connects successfully.
- Check for updated battery levels in the app.
I won’t be using my feeder for a while – what should I do with my Feed Hub?
- Turn the Feed Hub timer OFF
- Disconnect the timer from the motor battery
- Remove batteries from the FLD to save battery life
- Leaving the Feed Hub Timer connected to a 6V or 12V motor battery for lengthy periods when not in use, even in the OFF position, can cause drain and/or damage to the battery.
