Want to know the moment your camera or feeder detects something? The Moultrie App can send SYSTEM and SMART TAG push notifications straight to your phone. Here's why hunters use them:
- Push notifications arrive faster than text messages.
- They keep your text and email inboxes uncluttered.
- Tap a notification and jump straight into the Moultrie App.
- Smart Tag notifications alert you when your camera detects the animals you care about.
Buck Classification Smart Tags give you even more control over the types of bucks you can be notified about. Choose from Young Buck and Mature Buck so you get the notifications that matter most to you.
First: one setting for all devices, or different settings per device?
You have two ways to manage notifications, and one toggle controls which you use: Notifications Per Device.
- Toggle OFF (the default): the notifications you pick apply to every device on your account. Set it once and you're done.
- Toggle ON: a Choose a Device selector appears, and each camera or feeder gets its own settings. Use this when different devices have different jobs.
Heads up: per-device settings never copy from one device to another. Every device, including any new camera or feeder you add later, starts with all notifications turned off. If you add a device and skip this step, you won't get alerts from it, even though nothing is broken. When you add a device, come back here and set it up.
Option 1: Set the same notifications for all devices
1. Open the Moultrie App on your phone.
2. Tap Menu (3 bars) in the top left, then select Notifications.
3. Make sure Notifications Per Device is toggled OFF.
4. Tap the square under the PUSH column for each notification you want, then tap Save.
That's it. Every device on your account now uses these settings.
Option 2: Set different notifications for each device
Different cameras, different jobs. A camera watching your gate can alert you to people and vehicles only, while the camera on your feeder pings you for Mature Buck sightings and skips the midday turkey photos.
1. Open the Moultrie App on your phone.
2. Tap Menu (3 bars) in the top left, then select Notifications.
3. Toggle Notifications Per Device ON. The device selector appears.
4. Tap Choose a Device, select your device, then tap Done.
5. Tap the square under the PUSH column for each notification you want, then tap Save.
6. Repeat steps 4–5 for every device you want alerts from — including any device you add later.
Pro Tips
- Your phone must also allow notifications from the Moultrie App. Check your phone's SETTINGS, then NOTIFICATIONS.
- The cellular network can delay notifications. If you set everything up and still aren't getting alerts, visit our troubleshooting article. [keep existing link]
- Getting doubles? If NEW IMAGE and a SMART TAG notification are both selected, one photo can trigger two alerts. Turn off NEW IMAGE if you only want Smart Tag alerts.
