How To Share and Import Map Content

Your map content doesn't have to stay put. Share pins, tracks, lines, areas, and map views with your hunting buddies by email, or bring years of waypoints over from another app like OnX in a single file.

Share Map Content

Found the spot? Send it to your hunting buddy. Sharing is in the Moultrie App on iOS and Android (not on the web map yet). You can share a single item or a whole folder.

How to share

1. Open the pin, track, line, area, map view, or folder.
2. Tap Share.
3. Enter the recipient's email address and tap Share. You'll see an Invite sent confirmation.

Open the item and tap Share, enter their email, and hit Share. You'll see Invite sent.

Sharing a camera or feeder pin? Your buddy gets a marker at the same location, not your camera. No live feed, no settings, no connection to your device.

Camera and feeder pins share the same way; the recipient just gets a location marker.

What your buddy sees

• Already a Moultrie customer: an email “A spot just got shared with you” with a button to view it in the app.
• New to Moultrie: an email with App Store and Google Play links. Once they install the app and sign in with the same email address you sent to, the invite is waiting.

In the app, invites show two ways: a banner at the top of the map (Dismiss or Add to map; dismissing doesn't delete it) and the Pending Invites list under My Content, where each invite has Accept and Decline. Accept adds the content to their map as their own copy; Decline removes the invite. Invites don't expire.

The one thing to know

Every share creates an independent copy. After you send, your copy and theirs live separate lives: your edits don't change their copy, their edits don't change yours, and deleting your original doesn't take theirs back. If you want a shared item gone, ask them to delete it.

Import Map Content

Years of pins, tracks, and waypoints in another app? Bring them with you. Import lets you upload a GPX or KML file on the web map and puts everything in your Moultrie account.

How to import

1. Sign in at web.moultriemobile.com/maps (import is web-only — it's not in the mobile app).
2. Choose Import and upload your .gpx or .kml file.
3. Your content lands in a new folder stamped with the date and time of the import.
4. It syncs to your phone automatically — if you don't see it, close the app fully and reopen it.

File rules

• .gpx- GPS Exchange Format; most GPS units and outdoor apps export it.
• .kml- Google Earth and many mapping tools.
• .kmz is not supported convert it to .kml first with a free online KMZ-to-KML converter.
• 10 MB max per file split bigger files before importing.

What carries over

Names, colors, notes, and timestamps carry over when they're in the file. Icons are matched to the closest Moultrie icon. Photos attached to waypoints don't import. If an import looks plain, the source app probably left color or notes out of the export some apps do.

Exporting from onX Hunt

From the onX web map (easiest):

1. Sign in at webmap.onxmaps.com.
2. Click My Content on the left side of the map.
3. Click Select, check your items (or Select All).
4. Click Export, choose GPX or KML, and save the file.
5. Import the file to web.moultriemobile.com/maps.

From the OnX mobile app: tap My Content, tap Select and check your items, swipe left on the bottom row of buttons and tap Export (GPX only from mobile), then get the file to a computer and import it on the Moultrie web map. Heads up: OnX exports don't always keep icons, colors, and some notes.

Other apps and GPS units: look for Export, Share, or Save As, choose GPX when you have the choice, and upload the file on the Moultrie web map.

Quick Answers

Can I share to a phone number?

Not yet; email only for now.

Accidentally declined a share?

Just ask the sender to share it again.

Accidentally accepted?

The copy is yours now; delete it like anything else on your map.

Got a share from someone you don't recognize?

Decline it from Pending Invites.

Sent a share and nothing happened?

Double-check the email address. The invite waits for whoever signs in with that exact address — even if the notification email got caught in a spam filter, the invite still shows in Pending Invites.

Import failed?

Confirm the file is .gpx or .kml (not .zip or .kmz), under 10 MB, and that you're on the web map. Then try again if it still won't go; contact our support team and include the file.

Items showed up in the wrong place?

The importer expects standard WGS 84 coordinates; the GPX/KML default. Check the source file if items land somewhere unexpected.

Can I undo an import?

There's no undo; delete the import folder to remove everything it brought in. Importing the same file twice duplicates content; delete the extra folder to clean up.
