300LB Metal Broadcast Feeder (SKU/Product #: MFG-15129)
Is your feeder clogging? See below for common causes and how to correct them.
Troubleshooting
Our feeders are designed to use ¼" whole kernel corn:
- Anything drastically bigger or smaller can potentially cause material run-out, clogging, or bridging inside the hopper.
- Powder-like material (e.g., rice bran) in humid environments without mixing with a larger granule can cake and bridge at the hopper exit.
- Differing granule sizes can jam under the spin plate and prevent it from moving.
- Corn with excessive powder or dust can cause buildup on interior surfaces and jam the feeder.
Molded Corn in Metal Hoppers
- Corn sitting at the lower edges of the metal hopper can mold in humid conditions.
- Consider investing in an internal funnel liner to prevent this.
Potential Causes of Moisture in Hopper
- Lid not pressed down firmly after filling.
- Lid not twisted fully to the locked position.
- Hopper panels not pressed together firmly at the seams.
| TIP: With a 300 lbs hopper, a full load of molded corn is a significant loss. Inspect and clean the hopper thoroughly before every refill. |
