Metal Broadcast Feeder – Setup & Use

300LB Metal Broadcast Feeder (SKU/Product #: MFG-15129), 350LB Sled Feeder (SKU/Product #: MFG-15127), and 600LB Metal Broadcast Feeder (SKU/Product #: MFG-15130)

Congratulations on your new Moultrie feeder! The 300LB Metal Broadcast, 350LB Sled, and 600LB Metal Broadcast Feeders all share the same electronics, timer, and Bluetooth control; only hopper capacity, fill height, and base style differ. Follow the steps below to get yours assembled, connected, and programmed.

Model Comparison

Step 1 – Assemble the Feeder

  • 300LB and 600LB Metal Broadcast models: unfold and secure the powder-coated steel legs. Use the staking holes for added ground stability (stakes not included).
  • 350LB Sled model: position the low-profile sled base on level ground no legs to stake or level. Its wide, low footprint is what resists tip-overs from hogs and other varmints.
  • All models: attach the varmint cage around the spinner plate. It deters hogs, raccoons, and other pests while still allowing easy timer access.
  • For full hardware assembly, always refer to your model's printed assembly guide and assembly video.

Step 2 – Install Battery

  • Install a fully charged Moultrie 12V Rechargeable Feeder Battery or equivalent 12V Lead Acid/SLA battery (sold separately) in the concealed battery compartment.
  • Connect the RED wire to the POSITIVE (+) terminal and the BLACK wire to the NEGATIVE (−) terminal.

Step 3 – Connect the Solar Panel

  • Always connect the battery to the feeder FIRST, then plug in the included solar panel.
  • Position the solar panel to receive maximum direct sunlight throughout the day.
  • Double-check that the solar panel, antenna, battery, and motor are all connected to the timer -- every component needs to stay connected for the feeder to run correctly.

Step 4 – Fill the Hopper

  • Open the lid and fill with feed up to your model's rated capacity: 300 lbs (5 ft fill height), 350 lbs (4 ft fill height), or 600 lbs (5.5 ft fill height). Moultrie recommends ¼" whole kernel corn for optimal dispensing.
  • Press the lid firmly and twist to lock. A loose lid allows moisture in and can cause clogging.

Step 5 – Connect to the Moultrie App (Bluetooth)

A subscription is not required to control this feeder over Bluetooth. The app is not required either, but it's recommended -- it's the only way to use scheduling, on-demand feeds, and Bluetooth diagnostics.

  • Download the Moultrie app and create an account before you try to add the feeder. An account is required before the feeder can be added via Bluetooth.
  • Enable Bluetooth in your phone's system settings (not just an in-app toggle), then open the Moultrie app.
  • Power on the timer. It should automatically appear in the app's available devices list.
  • Face the timer's external antenna toward yourself while pairing -- this gets you the full Bluetooth range of up to 100 yards.
  • Tap the feeder in the app to add it to your account. Once added, you're ready to build a feed schedule from your phone.

Want to sync this feeder with a trail camera? Moultrie Connect lets you integrate it with a compatible EDGE camera (EDGE 3, EDGE 3 Pro, EDGE 4, EDGE 4 Pro, EDGE 4 Solar, and EDGE 4 Pro Solar). A cellular subscription is only required if you want to use Moultrie Connect; it is not required for Bluetooth control through the app.

Step 6 – Program the Universal Digital Timer III (UDT3)

The Universal Digital Timer III (UDT3) is the same across all three models. It supports up to 10 feed times per day, each with a run duration of up to 60 seconds. You can program it directly on the timer, or from the Moultrie app once connected.

Set Current Time

  • Press PROGRAM → SET CURRENT TIME. Use UP/DOWN for hours, RIGHT for minutes. Press PROGRAM to advance.

Set Current Day

  • Press PROGRAM until Set Current Day. Press LEFT/RIGHT to select today.

Set Feed Time

  • Press PROGRAM to reach the desired Feed Timer. Press DOWN to flash the time, PROGRAM to edit. Factory default: 7 AM and 6 PM at 6 seconds each.

Set Days of Week

  • After setting the feed time, press UP to flash days. PROGRAM to edit. LEFT/RIGHT highlights a day; DOWN disables, UP enables. Press PROGRAM to save.

Set Run Duration

  • Press DOWN + LEFT until RUN DURATION flashes. PROGRAM to edit. UP/DOWN sets a duration of up to 60 seconds.

Note: settings are stored in internal memory and survive battery swaps -- but the clock itself does not keep time without power. If a feed seems to fire at the wrong time after a battery change, see Missed a Scheduled Feed.

Step 7 – Test the Feeder

  • Press BACK to reach the Main Menu, then TEST to enter Test Mode.
  • Use UP/DOWN to adjust test duration, PROGRAM twice to confirm. A 5-second countdown precedes the spinner activation.
  • You can also trigger a test feed remotely from the Moultrie app once the feeder is paired.

CAUTION: Do not use a 6V or spring-top battery. Never reverse polarity or allow leads to touch each other or the feeder housing.

TIP: Capacity ranges from 300 to 600 lbs depending on your model. Confirm your schedule and run duration are set correctly before leaving the property. A programming error wastes a full load of feed no matter the hopper size.
